East London Apartment Reconfiguration
Apartment Reconfiguration and Bespoke Interiors

Through the complete demolition of all non-structural partitions and the design of bespoke joinery and secret doors, this East London apartment was reconfigured to achieve an airy open-plan layout with an optimal use of space, circulation and natural light.

The central core of the new layout is a freestanding-looking wardrobe, which hides some existing columns from the floors above and two pocket doors that can be extracted to separate the bedroom and shower area from the entrance hallway and living room/kitchen. Through this entirely bespoke solution, the extent of the circulation areas is minimised and the views of the garden and natural light from the glazed door at the back can be enjoyed from the otherwise-dark entrance hallway. The bespoke kitchen in white-oiled oak veneer and light grey microcement is symmetrically placed within the living room and all appliances are carefully concealed to create the illusion of a boiserie or piece of furniture providing a backdrop to the main living space of the apartment.
